Cinque Terre which means “Five lands” is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera between Genoa and La Spezia. The area is part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cinque Terre is a very popular tourist destination and comprises of five villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. These unique villages hide between green, steep hills and the turquoise Ligurian sea. The villages pastel-coloured houses are built on top of rocks in the rugged, steep landscape. Cinque Terre is located in the coastal region Liguria which is popular with tourists for its beaches, towns and cuisine. Travel between the five villages can be done either by train, by boat or by hiking the beautiful trails that connect the villages.
mikeharrisonfossils I found this little piece of nodule sticking put the mud on Charmouth beach after our coast was battered by waves, courtesy of storm Elaenor. Although the preservation is absolutely perfect, it is very much incomplete as only part of the fish has become nodulised. The missing part would be lying in shale, and as this is from a very old and mixed up landslide, I reckon I’d be more likely to win big on the lottery than find any more of it! You may notice it’s not actually lying flat, this is because a squashed ammonite is lying above it and the fish has taken on the ammonites contours.

australia“Mwah!” 💋 When Aunty dives in for the kiss… if only she’d trimmed her whiskers 🙄 After a break over the chilly winter months, swim with the sea lions tours have recommenced in @southaustralia’s @eyrepeninsula. Apparently, when the anchor hit the water on @adventurebaycharters’ first tour this week, more than 20 sea lions came running down the beach, crashing into the water and gliding up to the boat to say g'day. By the looks of things, the sea lions were pretty pleased to see their human friends again! Video: @adventurebaycharters
